Malefic: Typeface Design
Typography Design | Visual Design
Productive of Evil
A classic blackletter with a modern twist – Malefic is defined as a product of evil with highly stylized accents to call attention as a display font. Malefic lives for editorial and and creative content as that's where the details will shine and compliment photography, art or a standalone typography piece.
Modern Influences
Malefic references Modern typefaces to use high contrast strokes creating emphasis on certain aspects of the letters. The serifs are created using traditional Modern serifs with long squared, pointed ends.
Blackletter Inspiration
The Blackletter references rely on sharp angles and points that combine with the curved edges of the Modern features to blend in to one another as if it was written by a pen. A dominant feature is the straight edges of the letters that is traditionally rounded on the curves.
